Summary:
Rain Bird came to us with the need to completely revamp their digital presence. Their website was very outdated, they had dozens of “micro-sites” for specific products or campaigns that were not consistent, and their international users were under-serviced. This was not representative of their position in the marketplace as the #1 provider of irrigation solutions in the world. 5 Nerds performed a thorough discovery to understand the various audiences as well as internal needs. What came out was a robust, enterprise website that was modern, addressed all audiences, handled international customers, and was extremely functional for internal users.
The site tied into various APIs to connect things such as Rain Bird’s job posting system, customer loyalty program, online store, and more. Regionalization and Translation were handled independent of each other so users could browse the website content relevant to their area (Regionalization) in whichever language they prefer (translation.) Custom menus for each audience ensured an intuitive and pain-free experience no matter the user.
In addition, 5 Nerds built the Rain Bird Resources app to allow customers to have ready access to the full Rain Bird catalog at any time. This alone had an immediate positive ROI within the first year just based on printing costs saved by eliminating the need for paper catalogs.
Ultimately, Rain Bird’s digital presence matched its dominant position in their industry.
